A short host note · First pilot
Welcome people
into a little Harbor.
A simple introduction you can give without Marco in the room.
Begin with a welcome
“Welcome to XO Harbor. This is a world of characters, crafted objects and stories we can make together. You can explore a role, share an idea and see what becomes possible around one table.”
Show one object
Point to the Timekeeper, the table or a concept image. Explain which pieces are actual samples and which are still being developed. The intention is for an object’s making, care and encounters to become part of its continuing story.
Invite a small contribution
Ask: “Someone arrives at Harbor carrying a story. What could we offer to help them feel welcome?” Each visitor chooses a role for this encounter and contributes one idea. Roles are invitations to try something, not fixed labels for people.
If the Starboard encounter is set up and has been rehearsed, guide the group through the pin, the lens, the arriving boat and the Welcome Bell. Otherwise, use the simple question above.
Keep a chapter
Finish with one sentence: “Together, we welcomed our visitor by…” Visitors can keep it on paper, or use the tabletop page to make their own Journey Card. An XO account is optional for the encounter and needed to save the card to an online journey.
Before opening
- Agree the programme, host hours, local requirements, safe access and care of the objects with the venue.
- Prepare the actual samples, clearly labelled concept images, role names, paper and pens. Test any digital experience before visitors arrive.
- Use only the agreed product list and ordering route for sales questions. Visiting and taking part do not require a purchase.
